Who or what inspires your process?

I'm inspired by the strong shapes, fluid forms, and clean lines of modernist art and architecture. I love to absorb inspiration while walking through sculpture gardens or leafing through art books and then let it percolate. I'll then sketch the genesis of an idea, but the full form emerges as I carve in wax- it's that process of transformation that I love best.

Favorite item in your studio?

My workhorse of a polishing lathe! I use it literally every day and it's hard for me to believe I ever made jewelry without it.

Favorite nerd hobby or interest? 

It's probably not surprising since I bothered to get a Ph.D. in the subject, but psychological research still gets me every time. Granted I'm now more likely to listen to a TED talk than I am to read a ton of peer-reviewed papers, but the nerd love is still there.

Yes! I'm excited to share the launch of a new capsule collection, Vessel 02. This collection features favorite MGG Studio silhouettes accented with color! The launch includes the core colors of Milk and Coal, and new, limited edition colorways will be released throughout the fall.
