JOIN PRESENTS

Seattle, WA | Sallyann Corn, Melanie Abrantes, and Rebekah Jaramillo, Managing Members of JOIN Design, along with design writer Lauren Gallow, photographer Amanda Ringstad, manager/producer Maria Bianco, and graphic designer Gabriel Stromberg are pleased to present the culmination of an open call for design entries in an exhibition opening Thursday, September 22 at Bianco Gallery in Seattle.

The brief consisted of an essay written by Lauren Gallow, and the theme was inspired by a quote from one of the 20th century’s most influential artists, Georgia O’Keeffe: “My house is pretty empty; only what I need is in it.” After receiving more than 50 entries from designers across the U.S., JOIN selected 23 designs for inclusion in the exhibition.

"As designers, our daily practices are often filled with tasks outside of creating: spreadsheets, marketing, production. This open call was intended to provide us the space and freedom to reconnect with our creative selves, stretch design muscles, and create with abandon,” says Sallyann Corn, who has been a managing member of JOIN Design since 2013. “I'm thrilled the brief resonated with so many designers across the country with such diverse disciplines and approaches. Collectively, what is 'essential' has a whole new meaning to us all.” – Sallyann Corn
